How does sugar waxing work?
Sugar is the most ancient form of hair removal. Our sugar is made of only 3 natural ingredients, the perfect portions of sugar, lemon and water. This simple combination is water soluble, resulting in less skin irritation and no sticky residue following the procedure.
How long does sugaring last? How many weeks should I go between sugaring sessions?
Skin remains silky smooth for about 2 weeks until hair begins to grow back. Hair follicles grow two hairs out of each. When removed from the root only one will grow back at a time, therefore your regrowth will be thinner and softer. You must have about 4-6 weeks of regrowth in order for hair to be long enough for another treatment.
What is the ideal hair length for my wax?
You need to have about ¼ inch of body hair growth, which is usually 2-4 weeks of growth.
sugaring vs. traditional waxing
Sugaring is less painful and irritating compared to traditional waxing. Unlike waxing, sugar is removed with the direction of hair growth. This prevents broken hair shafts, reduces the possibility of ingrown hair, and causes less trauma to the hair follicle.
What is the difference between traditional waxing and sugaring?
Sugar is an all-natural paste, unlike the artificial resins and fragrances of traditional wax. Sugar is applied at body temperature so there is no risk of burning. The paste is removed in the same direction of the hair growth vs against like in traditional waxing. This is less traumatic on the hair follicle resulting in less irritation and ingrown hairs. Additionally, sugaring is more sanitary since there are no sticks or double dips.
What should I do to prepare for my first appointment?
Do not shave for about 2 weeks or wax at least 4 weeks before the appointment. This will allow for about ¼ of an inch (about the length of a grain of rice) of body hair growth.
Why use natural ingredients?
Unlike the artificial resins and fragrances of wax, sugar hair removal paste is made of only three perfectly portioned natural ingredients: Sugar, lemon, and water. Resulting in a water-soluble paste that is less irritating on the skin with no sticky residue following the procedure.
How do I care for my skin after my wax?
We encourage avoiding exercise, sweating, tight clothing, hot showers, and hot tubs for 24-48 hours after a body sugaring treatment. We also offer great options for post sugaring exfoliants and aftercare.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t get this sugar wax treatment?
Sugar waxing is not recommended for those on Accutane, retinol (on the treatment area), prone to bruising or swelling, rashes, open sores, sunburn or cold sores, or herpes. Sugaring should be avoided for 2-4 weeks after microdermabrasion, laser, or chemical treatment (in the treatment area).
